KRI 10 Miles - Race Report by Lilian Chen

Base on last year result, there should be no problem to get position after seven, yeah, that also everybody thinks like this. There only 28 runners in men open, damn happy when I see this and yesterday jalan-jalan makan tires end up in 1am was gone by this delightful message.

The starting spot was next to a big and beautiful fishing pond, did I mention the blue sky with birds and butterfly too? While wondering around the amazing nature of this golf club house just 7KM from the place I born, the officer ask us to start the race earlier. Warm up? Nah yesterday asam fish head curry keep me warm until I step in starting line.

Here we go

--------------
I wasn’t on pressure since it not KL and just to claim top 15 out of 28 runner, but find out I want to slap myself on this stupid calculation, immediate after start I can see 13 men in front with a crazy speed. Next to me are three men, which seem to be can shake me off anytime! I want to cry out loud, this was suppose to be a relax run! I want to complain, how can 28 people enter and 27 of them is all hares? Where the usual turtle which I suppose to see?

In the 2mile mark, I was start overtake by one of them, then on 3 mile mark I was "sayur" by 3 more! Jia lat loh!! I was at my full speed and they just overtake me like that! Luckily I took 2 power gel which one suppose for breakfast, but starting point I consume cakes and banana provide by organizer, I pop in one to make my fuel level and engine keep on burning, I start to feel cold as I run really fast and breath really hard! Although we are running in a nice cozy kampong road next to river, I have no time for the beautiful and quite scenery, what a waste! While I concentrate in front, I when have a snap at back, alamak, five guys are trailing me in 100 meter away!

My days come when after the u turn point, it seem to be 2 runners are out of gas and I pass by them without any fight back. With 4 miles to go, I was trailing a group of three musketeers; I pop in other power gel as I see no one doing this and this make me overtake them piece by piece. “Damn lucky I got my extra gel!” I cry out in tear. In less than 2 mile to go, I overtake an Indian who was injured and was in walk run condition, lucky me! Now I sure I in top 15, what a release!

In last mile, I see two hares are chatting among each other’s in front of me. I plan to ambush them, but luck went out when they notice my noisy steps and they just shake me off. I was cramp in stomach due to this stupid act, and the young Indian behind me catches up and running with me shoulder to shoulder. I force to use hand to squeeze hard on stomach to hold the pain and shake him off in last 200 meter to go.

I hold my position number 12 (overall) in my cold hands and ice the stomach before I register.

Footnote

---------
My official position in men open 9th, timing, 70m00s in 10 miles (16K), guys in front of me, 60m51s(1) … 69m51s(8), 70m21s(10), 70m58s(11) … 73m(15). My initial target time was 75m :`-O

I learn a hard lesson here; do not think others will not check on previous year result! But I really have a good time in the price ceremony cum annual meeting dinner later, I have 3 glasses of free whisky, wahahaha!

Jenny Lim Kui Eng accident on 21.4.05

All of us are saddened by what happened to Jenny. At the same time we must be thankful that our friend is still alive and over time, would be able to run again. As many of you have seen her, the injury she had is no small gash. It's about surgery and insertion of plates and screws.

At the location where Jenny was hit, it was an accident prone stretch even though it is a long straight highway. No one knows why. If you still remember, it is adjacent to where Datuk Loy was killed in an accident. The spot is also where 2 other Bangladeshi workers were killed by speeding vehicles driven by drunkards. Jenny is involved in the same type of accident. A hit-and-run. The only difference, she survived. She's very very lucky.

The only thing we could do now is to help her recover and get back on her running shoes, in our own way. It could be donations, hospital visits to give words of encouragement just like how we do it in the marathon races, and prayers...lots of it.

Cheers,
Alden

My First Ever 3km Time Trial

After argue and argue, explain and explain, my 3km time trial target 15 to 15:30 was rejected by PM ELITE leaders, captain pm1 gave me 13:30, and somemore the KCPM26 also play-play...said he believe can done 13:30, make me more tension lah ...! What to do, since knew them ..ai...!!

I was remind by PM1 even he toke leave? sick? No, sure no...hehehe! Keh Keh lai... But very appreciatehe pace for me, even Ong ask he came for trial or what? Lucky he didn't told them pace for me, if not, me lagi tension lah ...!!

Tried to sleep on bed 10.30pm, but can I? Sure no....I slept about 12am.. then my brain ask me woke up 4am... don't know why I do this time trial for what? Just represent PM gang? Or dare to dream masuk PACM team? Sure no seat for me lah ..!

Mainly target is test and love to run on track...cause it is shok to run on track, but chance to run here is less.. cause far away from 737 lah...!

I only drink a cup of mineral water, then masuk magnum beli 2 kali 4 ekor lah...hehehe...felt lighter my weight liao ...!

Depart to kg pandan from 737 at 5.40am.. slow slow driving my old motor...reached there at 6.10am..nobody there, said hello to gate guide, then decide to sleep on the public seat, until 6.50am, wake up walk around the track.. feel shok too..!

After ask by PM1 who reached very gam time 7am.. hahaha... follow his order, did warm up 3 rounds, in my mind no kc.. but think should I wear NB753 or NB racer... then decide to wear NB753 ! Jason also busy warm up, Kenny Tan and his housemate Michael just arrived before we start, then no time to do warm up.

PM1 ask me at starting, must do fast go out...then keep pace... So I quickly go out to lead the runners, first 2 laps... felt easy and fresh.. but from 3rd laps...I felt like to die liao.. cause my breath, HUP HUP HUP ... PM1 ask me to relax now... but how can I control lah.. so kang koh for me, aiyoooo....!! Just pray the time go faster to finish...!

I totaly out of energy can't pia at all, especially lap 6 and lap 7, my leg can't move , just angkat, angkat, aiyoo, if can stop, sure gua stop liao.. but pm1...said... at last lap... target off liao.. must do all out at last lap... wah lau eh... I don't care.. Just maintain the pace.. then do all out at last 200metres.... can't walk, can't cooling down,j ust stand near to the fence... to take big big breath....!!

My time is only 13:40, but for me, it is ok lah.... even tough no under pm1 target.. may be next time can be better, if got tactic and good pace.....!!

Kenny Tan finished faster than me almost ONE minute, and Jason Lim finished at 14:42, achieve his target....! PM1 after pace for me, he do few rounds with Kenny and others.

My time split:
---------------
1:37 / 1:39 / 1:45 / 1:54 / 1:55 / 2:01 / 2:00 / 0:46

PM1 Crocked

PM1 SMS'd me this morning and said that he's on MC today. Not only does his body need some time out but the shoutbox too.

Over the past 2 weeks, his supervisor, Sharifah binti TNS has been dishing plenty of grief to him which put paid to some running sessions as well as rest. Mentally also, PM1 was on the verge of meltdown.

Chances are he will still be pacing Jantzen Tey at tomorrow's track time trial.

Larian Mesra Rakan Cop Kuala Lumpur 2005

Based on PM1 previous 2002 experience, der route has change, no more same as last time. So very tns disappointed n even der route map oso given wrong info. Double TNS! Bcoz PM1 target time is to dip below 42mins. Triple TNS! Der only gut is medal up to 50th placing, compare to 2002 only 30th placing.

At der starting line, PM1 oredi stand in der front row n waiting for der flag off. Yes! He very der nervous. Bai - Bor - Tree - Too - Wan! Go! Go! Go! PM1! Once again, dat Mat Salleh fella was oso there. Who beat PM1 n PM19 at Nilai Half Marathon. Dis time PM1 target on his buntut, stay as close as he can. As long dat fella doesn't kentut, enuf liao! wahahaha!!

After 4km, PM1 my stomach was very painful. I think he breath too hard liao, too much oxygen masuk but didn't come out. Dat was cost of der pain gua? Blardy hell, he have to slow down der pace to adjust der stomach. Suddenly der Mat Salleh was way ahead of PM1. Lucky there was a water station at 5k mark, so PM1 quickly grab n drink for fast recovery. Then continue to chase dat Mat Salleh, but dis time he has to work extra harder.

By der time reach Jalan P. Ramlee junction, PM1 watch time oredi show 30mins plus liao. Lagi TNS! Coz he know it impossible to reach der target time of 41mins. Along der Jalan P. Ramlee route, its was all der way up hill (damn! very hilly). He
manage to potong sayur on der Mat Salleh fella (halehluya!), without letting him to have der change pace wit PM1. So PM1 quickly pull away from him, try to find other available sayur to eat. hehe!

Passing by J.W. Marriot Hotel, it was a long stretch to der finishing point n der timing oso reaching to 35mins plus. Without think twice, PM1 oredi turbo like mad babi. Open der leg as big as possible until der finishing line. Position OK! Timing not OK! :( After dat, PM1 n PM25 help out to check runners placing. More n more runners are coming in, so very pening kapala liao. Dont know who is who liao! After calculate until 100th runners, then i quickly go n look for my binitary.

Biggest Upset
Yupe, sad to tell u dis, but its true. PM17 aka Ryan Teoh finish at 51 placing. Juz miss by a nose, pretty pretty sad for him. But PM1 believe dat he has improve tremendously. Keep it up Ryan! According to PM1 pacing, he think der distance could have been more than 10.4km to 10.5km. PM1 say, one day he will take der motorbike to measure der actual distance.

2002 Result : 44m 36.86s (36th placing)
2005 Result : 43m 24.64s (23rd placing)

My first ever KLCC finished in relax and easy mood...even it start 5.30pm....felt little hot hot. I just use my normal pace like in ultra marathon, cause no experience...so...just base on my body feeling, finished in 1 hour 8 minutes 58 seconds for 10 laps at KLCC jogging track.

I left my house (number 737) in section 17 at 2pm plus,PM1 play play don know what I am talking in sms, aiya, plan to give PM gang a surprise...inform PM1..he busy with blur blur, don't know what I talking about in shoutbox and sms..only pm19 more smart ...he knew me in shoutbox as 737...hahaha !

Actually monday is my offday,I plan to buy nikon coolpix 5600 at sg wang Boeng, but out of stock,so ,no chance to snap my first ever KLCC timing history photo.

Took a small chicken burger and drink one bottle 600ml mineral water at Bkt Bintang, then direct went to KLCC,but first time don't know where can I park my motor lah...lucky before the Tan & Tan, turn left than see the mosque...so....hahaha...finally reached the carpark of the jogging track in first time...than sms pm1....informed him,he still don't know what I talking about, jia lat lah, finally direct answer him I reached KLCC and start at 5.30pm sharp...try to run more laps before it rain...cause that time sky very cloudy oh.....!

After went to toilet for release, than warm up,tarik sikit muscle of my leg, sharp at 5.30pm, I started for my first ever timing in KLCC park, my first 3 rounds due to less people, so keep my normal pace, my time is less than 7 minutes per lap.

Then I met with John Tan ,run with him in fourth round, after that I ask him to go himself, cause his pace is fast lah..beyond my level ,his 10 laps timing is 62 minutes.

About 6pm, more tourists gathered at the bridge near ending of the track, my pace slowed down, but still ok, later maintain, add faster pace get back some losing time in last few laps.

Met with
KNN (PM20) in sixth lap, he ask me to slower down, waiting for him, then went together for a while, he ask me my lap timing, I answered about 7 minutes...then he said you went first, my timing too fast for him, he just to do 3/4 pace, cause Tuesday he still have Kg Pandan class lah..haha !

Another PM gang I met is PM19,he did same as KNN cause have Kg Pandan track speed work, but his pace fast lah,he came late,pm19 is last person to finish, during waiting ,I have a chat with John and KNN, so sorry for KNN ,he felt thirsty, ask water from me,but I didn't bring as normal time lah...so paiseh !

Due to my place and working commitment, don't know when will be my second time of KLCC timing test......! May be few months later......see ya !

While doing my run, i oso sing out dis sad n lonely song. ''All By Myself'' Dis is how it goes...

''When i was young, i neber needed anyone...
running alone was juz for fun...
but those day are gone...

Living alone, i think of all my friends i know...
but when i dial a telefon, tns! nobody home...

*All by myself, i don wanna be...
All by myself, anymore...
All by myself, i don wanna live...
All by myself, live in der store...

Hard to be sure, sometimes i feel so insecure...
but run so distance and secure...
remain der cure..."
