Towerthon Comments by Anonymouse

grr.. I have been runing for years. And for once,i decided to participate in a race. I am a indian expat student.

-1st of all I was CHEATED.
charged 20usd? 75 ringgit. Where as local guy paid 20ringgit. Why the discrimination? Common towerthon organisers, we are going towards a free world, free of discrimination. After registering, I realised I could have paid rm 20 and got away with it.

-I slipped on the stairs. Some runner' thought he was being Mr.cool by spilling water on the stair. I stepped and slipped and regained on to my feet. It hurted though. the organiser's preffered to slack away and allow ppl carry the water up the stairs.

-There was this fat malay man sitting at the registration counter. He didn't seem friendly at all.ask him where is the luggage department,he grumbles' off roughly in malay. Asked somebody else then.

-Those luggage ppl placed our bags on the on the dirty road at the end of the race.My bag was placed on the mud.

- Some runner's drink water from the bottle, make mouth contact, and put the bottle back on the table. Now ,I am sure, some other runner might accidentally pick that half filled bottle of water. If the runner who drank water first, had soem disease/infection,what are you going to do?The disease will spread.

-And the biggest complaint by everyone was, that medal was plastic. It' doesn't even mention the word finisher.

-The certificate was un-personalised.

-As I reached the top,I badly wanted to sit somewhere. Some man yelled off,'tada tada' when I wanted to sit on some cushion chair nearby.went of to the observation deck.

-And any-one can go and get a goodie bag.

-And those indian' men at the start off just can't be described. Many ridiculous comments, trying to act like the big macho/boss over there.

-The medal presentation was kept at distant. And the photo graphers all stop on the chairs blocking the view when yu fang and the kenyan runner were being given a prize.

-Should provide some shower facility.

-And many other stuff.

Common, this is a international run,ppl from around the world are comming.Have some standard.

The plastic medal thing was the worst.MANY PPL WERE DISAPPOINTED AT THE LOOK OF THE MEDAL.

-I have also planned to complain. Can give me the adres whom to complain?

mail at el_na8@hotmail.com if u want mor comments

Towerthon Comments

Anyone hv any comments on d towerthon, pls email to Nezz @ nezz1010@yahoo.com She is collecting all to send it to d organizer, they wanna do postmortem. U may write anything u want lah.

Here are my comments:
1) Provided rubbish bins at drink station, so that the runners won't simply throw bottles everywhere. It's also for the safety of other runners.

2) Towethon is a International event, how can they give plastic medals for runners? Jatuh maruah saja.

3) Runners won't calculate the number of steps to the top. What's more helpful are how many floors to the finish. So the markers should countdown the number of floors instead of steps.

4) 1km is still too short. It should be extended further so that there are enough space built-up for the runners.

5) Provide more toilets

6) Good instruction & traffic control on parking.

Angie Ng, she so yau yeng hor!

TM Forest Towerthon Challenge 2006 - Official Result

Towerthon Report

What : TM Forest Towerthon Challenge
When : Sunday, 19th Feb 2006
Where : KL Tower, Kuala Lumpur
Started : 8.00am
Distance : Run 1km & Climb 2055 Step.

This is totally a new experience for me, never did any climbing staircase b4. So b4 der actual day, I did some stair training. On wednesday 17 storey x 4, nearly pensan. On friday 17 storey x 5, I see a lot of twinkle twinkle stars. Saturday rest n sunday woohoo... ready to race liao!

My bib number is A008, mean Im in der 1st batch of Men Open Categories. Coz Men Open divided into 3 batches. Starting time for 1st batch 8.00am, 2nd batch 8.15am & 3rd batch 8.30am. 170 participants for der 1st batches, for 2nd & 3rd I'm not so sure. Coz I already poof off liao :p

Der 1km is all der way up Hill lah, very very der cerun. Everyone turbo like pig n cow, leaving me very der far behind lah. My 1km timing is 4min 48sec, then I proceed to der stair. While running up der stair, I hv some difficulties, coz there are so runners squeeze like sardin to enter der stair. Which is very hard for me to potong sayur lah. Der stair is quite narrow, only 2 runners can move around.

Water station also provided, I dont know which level liao, coz I already seeing so many stars liao. So it very der dengerous, ppl juz drink & throw der bottles everywhere they like, which make der floor slippery. At least provide some tong sampah mah, hor? Anyway, I see a lot of runners slowing down, walking or stop. But I still continue eventho I'm tired & breahtless. When I see distance marker show 5 more level to go, I so excited. So I turbo wit all my shiet out lah!!

After receiving my goodies cupon, I proceed to der main level to enjoy der KL Tower view. Hoowah!!! Cinya sui ah!!! Then later take lift down to collect my hard earn medal. To my horror, der medal is made by plastic!!!

I REALLY KENOT BELIEVE IT LAAHH!!!!!

Conclusion
I want to thanks to Jantzen Tey, Lim Pueh Tian & Nezz for giving me some usefull tip on how to concour der Towerthon, really appreciate & it's really work lah. Anyway, I really enjoy der excitement & shld come back again next year even der medal still made of plastic wakakaka!!

Ok now back to my Cross Country update. I decided to skip der Circuit Run and focus more on Cross Country. Sumore I got injury in my knee dont wan it to get worst, so better play it safe lor. Sometime this thing kenot be too greedy want. My injury is call "ITB" I dont know wat it mean, but to my meaning is "Injury
Thru Bontut" correct boh?

Despite getting der injury, I gamble for it lah. After 500m, I feel a sharp pain in my arch area, there nothing I can do about it, juz bare der pain until finish line lor. Der most difficult part of this run is uphill, really a killer. And der most dengerous part is downhill, really go to hell want. Everytime uphill I potong sayur ppl, but come to downhill I it lost back. This ppl ah, really dont love them self wan u know, der downhill is so sliperly & dengerous lah!!! One single fall U go to Hospital liao.

Anyway to my surprise, my timing & placing is better then last year. So very happy lor, my hard training really worth of it lah. Only 3 PM's involve in this run, Fong Fong Pm8 & Loong Loong Pm37. Only me and Fong Fong manage to get der hard earn medals, but this year quality runners really drop.

Update on Terence

I spoke to Terence just now and he would like to thank everyone for the contributions. He's very shocked and touched by the amount of support garnered. He'd also like to thank PM1 for the tokens of appreciation. Terence will be admitted back to the Tawakal Hospital today for further tests and should be there for at least a few days. I'll be making arrangements to pass him the cheque these few days as I'm still receiving some contributions. I'm stopping collection at lunch time today to facilitate accounting and the final sum will be published to all. As it stands, the collection has exceeded RM4,000. For the run report, please PM5

Run For Terence - The Run

Over 40 runners (young and old) turned up at the KLCC park to show their support to Terence this morning. It was, I think, a tremendous response. It could've been a larger turnout if not for the Chinese New Year celebrations. The weather was hot and while most just ran a few rounds, there were also a few who just couldn't give up their weekly mileage. Ronnie contributed plenty of tokens of appreciation in the form of glasses and ceramic containers, which was distributed to all who came. Janet contributed in a unique way - she ran 10 laps to raise RM1,000 on top of her own contribution.

In the end a total of RM2,860 (about USD762 and excluding the pledged amount) were collected. A cheque will be cut out in favour of Terence and we will make arrangement for it to be handed to him. It is hoped that the collection will in some small way lighten up his burden. More importantly he now knows that there are so many healthy lungs out there who are standing behind him in this hour of need. Here, I'd also like to record my thanks to all who came. Your presence proved that there are indeed many generous people in this world and runners do stick together.
