When to watch der 300 together wit Rachel, Kevin Chow Yun Fatt & Lim Pueh Tian at Mid Valley GSC on last sunday. I would rate this is one of der great movie for yrs 2007, too bad it was a sad ending. Der most touching word was "My King, it was honour to die wit you" [insert my teardrop here] & Der most powerful word was "Spartan's! Tonight we dine in hell" or it can be say as (Captain Ron, today we pia kau-kau lat for you) heheheh!

Crash, Burn & Suck!

What : Kuala Lumpur International Marathon 2007
When : 18th March 2007
Where : Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur
Distance : 21.5km [LFS to comfirm]
Official Time : 1h 39m 16s / Chip Time : 1h 39m 11s
Average Pace km/h : 4'38 pace /km
Rate as : G7 Event!

* Sorry for my late report, lately cinya bz like kok n spoon.

Race Moment
Bcoz this is one of der G7 event, gua cinya kan cheong. I was standing quite front row too, together wit Zulazlan Pm43, but Zul seem like more kan cheong than me. From der moment countdown start, gua turbo off wit full throat. No one blocking me, I hv a smooth run all der way from starting line. Reaching 5km at 21m 49s, cinya happy still on target for my 4'30 pace. Keep sayuring runners every KM, by der time my watch show 45mins liao. Ehh!! Where is der hack is der 10KM mark? Strait away dont hv der feeling to pia anymore, mean I oredi out of my 4'30 pace [insert TNS KNN CCB LLM FTAAA here].

Then suddenly all der sayur runners come n potong me back. After 47mins of running, finally saw der water station n der stupid 10KM mark. Step on der stupid map hard hard at 47m 38s, then press back my on turbo button. I keep figure out how come my 10KM timing so bad one? Later I found out it was actually 10.5K, mean I still on target one, but too late to know liao [insert cilaka FTAAA here].

Wit another 10K to go, my pacer was 2 runner who was only wearing der 3 quarter pant n running vest. I very jeles who stiil kenot keep up on to them, pia n pia still seeing their bontot most of der time. After 15km manage to sayur one of der runner 3 quarter pant runner, mean 1 more sayur to go. But that fella seem going stronger n stronger, until finally der most jialat part. Which require to go for another 1 big round b4 going in to dataran. I think that fella tot going to finish liao, hemtaming der pace kau-kau lat. Then I saw der official shouting at him, asking to turn right no strait bcoz no ribbon yet. Suddenly der fella pancit liao, feel cinya sorry for him. My watch show 1h 30mins plus liao, I dont think I can PR liao. Der 1 more big round at least need another 9mins or more or at least 1.9km to cover. Imposible.. cinya imposible liao..!

Can hear der sound of finishing liao, try to tekan as hard as I can. Der official no shouting at me, bcoz I got ribbon liao. Despite kenot PR liao, but I still keep der spirit high to pia all der way out n cross der finishing line peacefully.

Mission Fail
Dont know wat went wrong thru out der whole race, to me I think I did my best liao. My mission is to better my last year record, but today seem like not my lucky day [insert pm1 cinya heart broken here].

Past Record:
2000 : 1' 38.13 (21.5K - 46th)
2003 : 0' 46.19 (10.5K - 63rd)
2004 : 0' 45.10 (10.5K - 52nd)
2005 : 1' 40.02 (21.5K - 44th)
2006 : 1' 37.09 (21.5K - 52nd)
2007 : 1' 39.16 (21.5K - 47th)

Seem like Justin Lee record of 1h 35mins still remain upbeatable by any of der Pacemakers except Richard Habeya lah. I tot of running KLIM full marathon next year 2008, but still kenot achieve my target yet lah. Well my friends, guess my marathon will start only in 2009 liao. Cinya cinya SORRY for that n oso cinya SORRY to Justin I still kenot break ur record.. SORRY!

Next Stop : PD Half Marathon (1st April 2007)

Profile of Waterman Yap --- France

Howdy Captain Ron,

Thanks for your crispy reply!

You asked me to write a short profile of myself I susah liao! U know hoh I haven't run for more than 3 wks oredi my air now so full up liao dunno where to let out! Some more hoh i long time never take exam oredi so kan cheong man until dunno write ngam or not. So scare wan! So,Captain you please give chance a bit. One eye open one eye close enough lah or better still no eye see pun ai sai wan ok? Cinya cham! Where to begin huh? How to begin? What to begin? Ai yo yo! Ah ma ma! Just tell me to run 10k no need to write profile can or not wan sir?

In secondary school I like all kinds of sport especially Gymnastic, Rugby , badminton, basketball and football. During a C'country season I accidentally discovered that I could out run my Indian classmates. So, I quite like running. Later I found out that when I run alone, I could also think of many things undisturbed.

In the early 80's while studying in the University in England , I was forced to run because of my lack of stamina in badminton competitions. I am a doubles player. Very high standard you played with former Thomas cup players and state players. ( I only estate player!)

After returning to M'sia in 84, I started to work in Hong Leong Finance. So busy those days had to get up early to catch a bus ( mini 12 from SS2) to near Petaling Street KL and only finished work at 10pm. So, working from stars to stars! I started to grow FAT............

Eventually I was promoted as a marketing manager. A fat one!

Potong cerita a bit I ended up working in Bidor running a quarry in 1992. Shortly before my father passed away in Aug 1996, he told me not to be so fat! I was already 91kg with waist 41! That was when I started jogging in Bidor.

At first I could only run 200m the most and had to stop for air! I ran almost everyday a little longer and longer, a little faster and faster. The Bidor running folks loved me. I was their rabbit and they were the hound dogs. They always let me to start my run first and only began to persue after me after 5 minutes. There were so much excitements when all of them came back and reported where exactly they overtook me. I like that game very much. Soon, they found it harder and harder to sayor me. Before long, I have to let them run first. I then became the hound dog!Woof... woof. In 5 months, I lost 17kg and my waist down to 34. I think because of that more and more people join us to run ( more than 40).

I started organizing our gangs to join races from 1997. We went every where including Kuaka Trenganu ( how to spell ?) I saw you many times Captain!!! In 1998 I ran my first full Penang marathon. I saw you also! You were doing the half! Our running motto is " si chew si" - I die if I die. ie. Pia right from the gun until no time to even wipe your saliva! Very much like you all lah!

I stopped going to races since 1999 when I started to serve full time in a church. Races always crashed with church service time.

Came to Paris in 2001. My meeting is on Saturday so I can go races again! I train alone most of the time outside my house by the famous River Seine. Eiffel Tower is 16k downstream from my house. I run 5 times a week from 13K to 21k. Marathon training season then Long run up to 37k. I run on my treadmill when its raining. Once in a blue moon I join my nephews for runs.

I was keened to know how my friends in Bidor were doing in races so I began to search the web. First I found runners high then carboman and then your site. I think from 2004, I have not missed a single write up from you all!!! That's why I said hoh you all are not new to me. So, in a way, I touch down M'sia everyday via internet.

I read a lot of stuff recommended by Dr Jamie - books lah, running articles lah. I put them into practice and started to train differently. Last year, I was so happy to run 1hr38 in a tough Half marathon and also a 3hr48 full marathon ( Thanks again Dr. Jamie).

I am currently sidelined due to an upper back injury. May be old injury from gymnastic when I was 14. I hope to put on my running shoes again soon. Missed the Boston qualifying time of 3hr35 last year by 13min. Hope to do it next time.

Sir, this profile short or not because I kenot tahan oredi want to go toilet liao! So, I write next time ok?

Take care & Au revoir!

Profile (2nd half)

Wow! Our Captain so give chance wan give me extra time to finish profile.( I curi curi correct some spelling mistakes also lah) Since I’m also bc hoh so I go point form liao! ( Captain please don’t tolak point ya!)

1) My Bidor people didn’t know how I improved so fast. So I tell u but promise u don’t tell them when u go Bidor run again into the waterfall this year ok? I wanted to improve so much I secretly went to Batu lapan at 2pm ( Tapah to Cameron highland ) to run into the Orang Asli kampong Hill.27 hill climbs for 10k.No pain no gain mah! Then I joined them again in the evening pia session. Until hoh I p…. blood come out with the urine!

2) In 1997 I ran the Penang bridge also. I follow your backside most of the way until coming back up the bridge. I got black smoke coming out my ears and nose and could not keep pace with you oredi. You finished 2hr 07m and I did it in 2hr 09m. You didn’t see me meh?

I’m running out of time liao so I have to pass up my paper oredi!

Many thanks to you Captain and your PM family members for accompanying me with so many interesting write ups. For a far away runner like me I’m much in debted to all of you.Thank you all!

Happy running Guys and gals!

Au revoir or a bien tot!

Tunnel of Red!
First of all, I would like to thanks to all diehard Pacemakers gang for wearing der Pm's official vest. Really appreciate it, n those who didnt wear it. Prepare for heavy penalty [15 ranking pts will deduce from ur ranking pts system]. For 1st timer in der race, will give a second chance.

My Race Report!
Thanks god I survive this battle, I was unfit n down wit flu, fever & cough for der whole wks after Circuit Run, due to overheat at that race [insert need more vitamin C here]. Der race flagoff at 7.38am, ran at fast pace at der begining to avoid der thick crowed. After 2km started to slow down liao, coz move into der SMART tunnel liao n der way is clear n eazy to run oredi, coz I dont want to get pensan inside der tunnel. After 1km of running inside der tunnel, starting to feel very hard on my breathe n sumore so humid [insert sweat like waterfall here]. Lucky I hv Chen Pong Pong as a pacer, else would be damn boring like hell [insert need more oxigen here].

A bit relief after coming out of der humid tunnel to make a u-turn, surprisingly Azwar & Vincent Wong was ahead of me. While der back of me oso coming tight from behind are Chen, Kenny, Loco Lai, Shine & Saiful [insert cinya kan cheong here].

Going into humid n boring tunnel again, this time I more prepare liao. Make sure I stay at my own pace, dont care about der heat, juz breathe nicely will do. I hv Vincent Wong as my motivation, keep on my pace wit Vincent n make sure dont let go. Lucky der water station ease my pain, I was so damn thirsty n tired liao. Grab 2 cup to refresh myself n ready to pia again. And yes I manage to overtake Vincent b4 out of der tunnel, n I turn to turbo gear to overtake as many runners as I can. B4 enter to finishing line, I heard a giant footstep coming from behind. And it getting closer n closer, oh my god!! It was Kenny Tan, base on my experience. Kenny Tan hv a very strong finish, he will sprint like mad dog no matter wat it take. Wit 90m to go, I pia everything out, including all my Tham n Phee come out. Der feeling is like someone barking behind [insert bark! bark! here] no matter how, I manage to finish ahead of him at 0.01sec nia, phew! wat a close call, almost kena bite by this mad dog. hahaha...
