Warm greeting from me Lim Huat. To start off my full running
story, it got to be a story too long for me to write here, so I will make it
short here, my running life started way
back in early eighties at BM ( Bukit Mertajam ), cannot really remember how and why I started running as I never run during school days BUT one thing
which I can never forget was I started off running with a pair of second hand
Mizuno running shoes which I bought it for RM20 from a friend ,the pace started
from here. Well not many Races those days as compared to now but never the less
I will never miss one when any race coming along. Did my first 21km at Penang
Bridge Run in 1986 and my virgin Full Marathon was at Penang International Marathon
in 1987(4:26:26).
In between, due to career change and migrating of my family from
BM down to KL in 1990, running was temporary taking aside. It took me almost 12
years to kick start and put on my running shoes again when I join MAS Team for
World Airline Road Race 2002 which was held in KL .Ever since then there was no
turning back, you can see me at most races around Klang valley. Took up the
biggest challenge in my running career last year where after a lapse of 23
years, I challenged myself to do my 2nd FM at SCKLM 2011 and Thanks God , all went well and I make it
with an impressive time of 4:02. This
result did propelled and provide me so much confidence and determination to do
even better and sure enough with God bless, subsequently I did my FM with a sub
4 time at PBIM 2011(3:57:07) and Taipei marathon 2011(3:43:04). The
determination was so high that surprised even me myself was a sub 3:30 and PB time
of 3:27:21 at Tokyo marathon 2012 in February this year which had qualified me
to Boston next year…..just no words from me ..…full of joy and satisfaction!
Well as years goes, age is not on my side now , guess not
many running days left for me either, I promised myself, from now on I will enjoy
and appreciate every moment of my run days while I still can ….God willing. At
this twilight end of my running career, to hit a PB along the way obviously will
be a big achievement and bonus for me. Running seems to be part and parcel of
my life lately….hopefully I can still able to create some miracle results to
shock myself before sun set….Happy Running!!
Lastly, I was actually shock and surprise when Captain
Ronnie PM1 invited me to join this young and energetic PIA family as I wonder if
I this old man are still young enough to PIA with them. BUT without second thought I just say yes and accepted it
full heartedly as I had been following
PM1 blog for many years, I like the PIA spirit, never give up attitude, PIA
till no tomorrow, PIA till vomit white foam.…just love it. Hopefully by end of
the day I don’t have to PIA till vomit red foam….haha!!
Once again many thanks to Captain Ronnie PM1 for inviting me
into Der Pacemaker Family and a big Hello to all PM members, let us enjoy our run
together and have fun, lets PIA kau kau lat together-gether BUT please remember
to give chance to me this old man ya...^_^
