MEDIA RELEASE - 1st OCM Trisport Carnival 2004

In conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of Olympic Council of Malaysia (Registered in 1953 and affiliated with IOC in 1954), OCM World Exchange Fellowship will organise the 1st OCM Trisport Carnival 2004 on 12 Dec 2004 (Sun) in National Sports Council Complex, National Stadium and Sports Village (Futsal Centre) in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.

The one-day Carnival which is run under the patronage of International Olympic Committee (IOC) Sport for All Events is divided into 7 divisions namely : Men Junior (U-18), Women Junior (U-18), Men Open, Women Open, Men Senior (Above 35), Women Open (Above 35) and Men Veteran (Above 50).

The inaugural Carnival provides an opportunity to sport-minded people to compete in three sports namely Athletics (Medley Relay of 4 runners in 100m x 2, 200m & 400 m i.e. total 800 m), Futsal (5-a-side), Basketball (3-a-side). Each team is allowed to register 6 players only. To promote racial unity, priority shall be given to teams which register two or more ethnic races of players.

From the standpoint of an event, it is an _expression of OCM's commitment to "Sport for All" as the development of sport within the nation. From the standpoint of a "sport concept", it can serve as a model which could be adopted at state, district and even community level across the nation.

The Carnival will not only be a test of competitive spirit, but also of all-round athletic ability, endurance, communication and team organisation.

Entry forms are now available in OCM, M-Floor, Wisma OCM Jalan Hang Jebat, 50150 Kuala Lumpur. The entry fee for each team is RM30.00. The closing date for entry is 20 Nov (Sat) at 12.30 p.m. Those interested in participating in this Carnival are required to attend a special briefing on the General & Technical Rules of the Carnival will be held on 30 Oct (Sat) in the Conference Room, Wisma OCM, Jalan Hang Jebat, Kuala Lumpur at 1.00 a.m.

Meanwhile, OCM World Exchange Fellowship which aspires to be the largest volunteers in sports in Malaysia invite volunteers to organise this Carnival and other sports activities for grassroots develoment and mass participation of sports in Malaysia.
