Muniandy’s second in Seoul Race

SEOUL: Malaysia's M. Muniandy finished a respectable second in the men's category of the 10km Adidas King of the Road Championship Race held at the Mountain Sokri National Park in Chungcheong here on Sunday.

Muniandy completed the race in 31:32.55 to finish behind Boonthung Srisung of Thailand, who was timed at 31:31.91. South Korean Kim Kuen-nam finished third in 31:54.02.

Yuan Yufang was the best Malaysian performer in the women's race. She finished fifth in 37:18.48.

The race was won by Metcedita Manipol of the Philippines in 35:41.07. Manipol finished in front of Hong Kong's Christine Double (35:42.44) and Thailand's Saifon Biawong 35:52.58.

The king and queen of the road race received US$2,700 (RM10,260) each. The second and third places were worth US$1,800 (RM6,840) and US$900 (RM3,420) respectively.

Women: 1.Metcedita Manipol (Phi) 35:41.07, 2. Christine Double (Hkg) 35:42.44, 3. Saifon Biawong (Tha) 35:52.58, 4. Lee Jeong-suk (Kor) 36:03.45, 5. Yuan Yufang (Mas) 37:18.48.
