Name's Ajeep Rashidi. 25, male, from Klang.
When I was a kid, I was chubby. In Std 3, I had a kidney problem. Doctor told me not to play any kinda sports. When I entered Form 1, still chubby. I was in a boarding school, and there were sports events early that year. Like, 7K run, and a few others. But I got doctor's permission giving me a reason to skip those activities. Some might love that chance, but not me. I skipped the event but I didn't like it at all. I hated being the sick one. So, after that day, there was a rugby inter-class tournament. I jumped on that chance, I learned rugby. I loved it, and played it almost everyday. And football too. I ran sometimes. When I was in Form 4, I tried cricket and I loved it instantly! I loved it even more than rugby or football. I was very serious about it. Started running everyday. Whenever I didn't have training, I would spend at least half an hour running. Played for school team in Form 4, played for Federal Territory in Form 5.
After school, I got into a local university. Didn't play any sports. My university didn't have cricket. Didn't run either. I hated it whenever I run, people would stare and gawk at me, like I was doing something stupid.
Early this year, I noticed that I'd gained some extra padding in my mid section (pot belly). Toyed with the idea of running again. Went to a few running websites and that got me pretty excited. That was when I learned about PACM. But, I didn't get too much time to run, as office work really took up most of my time. Until recently, I told myself that I have to get back in shape. Work comes second. My health is first.
Instead of other sports, I chose running because my fitness and performance, are solely determined by my body. My body is the gauge. My body is the instrument. Unlike other sports. I just love the idea of challenging your body, and pushing the limit. It seems like there's no limit to what our body can do. It's just amazing. Thanks to running, I've quit smoking. Never done any race, so Nilai will be my debut.
