Bowl for a good cause

We are raising funds for welfare homes and a community school and we would like to invite you to come bowl with us for a good cause! You and your team could also be the first ever to take home the prestigious PFM Challenge Trophy!

The charity bowl will be held on 10 April 2010 at Sunway Megalanes, Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre starting from 8:30am – 12:30pm.

Registration fee is RM1,000 for team of 4. It includes 3 games each team member, shoe rental and snacks (please bring your own socks). The full amount is channeled to the fund and donated to the selected charity organizations (please refer below). Registration and payment must be made by 31 Mar 2010. Who will be benefiting from the Charity Bowl 2010?

We are aiming to collect at least RM40,000 which will be divided equally among the selected homes and education centre.

Here’s some basic info about the organizations who will be receiving funds through the fundraising event:

1. Rumah Juara

Orphans, children & teens who are underprivileged, have been abused, neglected, abandoned, delinquents and from single-parent homes
About the home:
Established as a non-profit home in January 1998, the centre gradually expanded. On 7th June 1999, Juara 2 was set up to meet the growing
needs of the children ranging in age from 3 – 16 years old. Both centres provide shelter to orphaned, abandoned and abused children from
destitute and broken family environment.

2. House of Joy
Address: 78A, Jalan TK1/1, Taman Kinrara, Batu 7, Jalan Puchong , 47100 Puchong

Residents: Orphans, children and teens who are underprivileged, have been abused, abandoned & neglected, poor, and delinquents, and
destitute old folks.
About the home:
House of Joy is a social concern and a non-profit charitable home that administers shelter, care and training to children. The home also
provides shelter and care to underprivileged and destitute old folk. The home was established since 1st August 1992 by Rev Tang Chee Sing
and his wife Lee Ching Mun.

3. Trinity Children’s Home
Location: No. 5, Jalan Bukit Menteri Utara 7/4, Petaling Jaya

Residents: Children who have been abused, neglected and abandoned
About the home:
The home has about 20 children now, aged six to 15 years and are mostly siblings abandoned by their divorced parents.

4. Myanmar Refugee Children’s Community School

About the school:
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was established on December 14, 1950 by the United Nations General
Assembly. The agency is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems
worldwide. Its primary purpose is to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees. UNHCR provides assistance for refugees in a variety of
areas including healthcare, education, financial assistance, shelter, counseling and other welfare needs
As of end January 2010, there are some 79,300 refugees and asylum-seekers registered with UNHCR in Malaysia , of which 73,300 are from
Myanmar . They have set up more than 60 community schools in located in make-shift flats in the city, and these education centres need
financial support to pay volunteer teachers, textbooks and meals for the children.
