Ronnie, do you really understand what sub-4 pacer is? Sub-4 pacer means you have to lead the followers to complete a marathon within 4 hours or SLIGHTLY below 4 hours. Read the word carefully, S-L-I-G-H-T-L-Y! You did 13 minutes faster than what you should. This is god awful! Look at your pacing, you ran 26 minutes for the first 5km. That is the speed for running a 3:40 Marathon. You seriously didn't understand what your responsibility was!

I wonder how organizer elected the pacers. Most of the pacers I saw yesterday were inexperienced at all. Some ran way ahead of the target time, like a sub-6 pacer did 5:47, OMG! Some ran way above the target time but still having the balloon tied! They were not like few seconds slower, they were like 5 to 10 minutes slower and some even worst! Do you guys know what is the meaning of SUB? SUB simply means UNDER or BELOW! Sub-5 means under 5. 5:01 is not sub-5!

Some did very well timing. They came back on time BUT they ran 15~20 minutes faster than what they should for the first 30km and slow down dreadfully for the last 10km. What kind of crap pacing strategy was that?

Why them? There are still many experienced marathoners around who can do better than them. Better not in terms of speed but in terms of the right attitude! Pacers are much more than just pacing or run fast. You need a right attitude. You can't be a pacer if you don't know the marathon basic!

Apologize if you find me annoying here but I believe there must be people out there feel the same as me. I hope you guys treat this seriously and do some serious review especially you, RONNIE! Anyway, there were few very good pacers who did very well yesterday, please accept my sincere gratitude!

That's all I want to say. Thanks for reading.

Regards,
One of the followers who got screwed up badly by the pacer!

dear Anonymous, i find your mesg very hard & harsh ! to be fair, the pacer was only "call in" at the very last minutes by the organiser, so u really can !#@#% the pacers for this...
and it's not easy to find pacer (at the last mins) & most of the pacer on that day was first time pacer and they did it on volunteer basis w/out salary from StanChart. i do believes they know what is require from them as pacer and are doing their best on race day but sometimes on the actual time, it can be difficult. try running with a ballon tie behind your back and wind blowing agaist it !!!

as for me, i was thankful for sub-5 pacer, Kei Ming. he caught up with me at about 30+km as i was slowing down liow. he gave good encourangment words to me and i followed/pace with him for about 6-7kms. if not for his pace, i doubts i can reach in sub-5 too. my appreciate to Ronnie and his gang of PaceMakers. good job !!! :)

I concur with Dannie, this group are called in on a last minute basis and volunteer out of the passion to run. They are not paid!!! No one in this world are born to run let alone walk & crawl. There is always the first time in doing something new, and learn from the experience whether its good or bad.

To me a 15-20mins buffer is perfect ie if its a sub4 pacer, the runner shud finish the race with an allowance of 15mins and max 20mins. In a race there is always things that can happened that you can never predict. So in the case if things go wrong, there is still a buffer to finish the race in the expected time.

last minutes my ass..lame excuses...then dont volunterr laar.. if do not know the basics of pacer..i agreed with anoymous..only feww pacers did well like wong..the rest might as well become regular runner..orgniser must look into this..

I total agreed with anonymous, as a pacer you must think and be considerate and be responsible for your pace not just ran as if you are competing in the race. it does not matter with or without paid, what really matters is sense of responsibility and attitude.

the 2 anony, if you are so unhappy with the pacers, then write your complaints officially to the organiser of SCKLM 2010. no point complaining here as all the pacers are appointed by the organiser. and moreover this blog is not a complain forum.

also if you wanna complain, have the courtesy to review who you are. if you decided to remain anony, nobody will entertain you.

Anonymous make sure you register as a pacer for SCKLM 2011 and follow 100% rule as a pacer and no chicken out, you must at least experience it yourself before you commented all of these on a PM blog .

to those who left comments as anonymous - you do have the right to voice your opinion here, but please do it with an identity. posting as anonymous will only reflect your "two face" characters...

rightfully, if you wish to do this professionally, you should actually do what C-CUBE suggested. the pacers are appointed by the organizer thus your "grievousness" should be put in writing to the organizer instead.

on the fair side, i believes the reason you commented is because you hope future pacer will be more dedicated and responsible on their pacer duty. as such, i do hope you let the past be the past, and instead of criticizing, please do provide constructive suggestion and encouragement words here to the pacers whom you felt didn't perform as per your expectation.

and if you are really still serious on said issue, come and join the Pacemaker group during their training and share your experience with them. trust me, there will be no hard feeling when u reveal your identity to them. Pacemaker are a group of fun loving people who enjoy running and helping others to run better only. they do not have extra time to hate people, especially now when they're also busy with WAKA WAKA !!! :)
