Sime UEP organise a 7km fun run in SJ yesterday. They were taggetting 500 runners but i think due to the lack of publicity very few runners turn up. Most of them who turn up were not fast runners, majority who turn up were families with their children. I think at most not more then 40 men and less then 15 female runners. Registration was free. The prizes give by Sime UEP were very generous. For once slow runners could win something without much effort. I think Sime UEP had more prizes then participants. Souveniers were given to men from 21-30, 11-29 had hampers and souveniers top 10 had cash prize, hampers and souveniers (and cash prize was very good for an event like this 1st RM1000, 2nd 750, 3rd RM500, not sure what is the amount from 4th to 10th but i believe it was good) If anyone can run 7km in less then 44 minutes i think you would have qualified for cash prize. For ladies it was even easier to win cash, if you can run 7km in less the 62 minutes you would be good enough to take at least the 3rd prize of RM500. Besides that buffet breakfast was provided for everyone. I think this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for slow and recreational runners like me. Though i did not win any cash but at least i won a hamper. I too sign up for the Macdonald run but when i saw the banner on Saturday i decided to run in this fun run as the distance of both run was 7km so better to run on home ground.
