Call To Action

I was reading the comments on the Ipoh Run click here! but I can’t post my comments in der blog – it’s blocked from office TNS!

So can someone pls post the following comment for me?

Some race organizers have proven year after year that they have no intention of improving. We as operators of our blogs reserve the right to ascertain which event we want to feature or not. Previously we’re just doing the runners and organizers a favour by including their races in our blog calendars. But if their races suck we shouldn’t continue to “help” these organizers. Instead we should mark them as black-listed races – call the category “Proven Disorganized Races”. If we continue to help provide free advertising for these scumbags, we’re just condoning bad events and putting our fellow runners at risk. So we bloggers should act responsibly NOT to feature such races in future. We should also be aware of the possibility that unless we start boycotting these lousy events, organizers will continue to set up events as a way to suck up to the politicians. At us runners’ expense. I challenge all runners who have previously been victimized: Are you still willing to be used as pawns?

Proven Disorganized Races (pls add on)

1) Ipoh “International” Run (since 2004)

2) KL International Marathon 2009 Edition

i concur with u that runners should take charge and not risk their life or being reaped off our pocket by irresposible organisers. let all runners blog join hands and list them on our blog to create awareness among fellow runners.

I like the term "Proven Disorganised Races", it's fair enough. Organisers should not inflict bloggers if events go bad. And bloggers should not be blamed for promoting races which turned out bad. U guys disseminate information which benefits organisers and runners alike. It's about time that some poorly organised races are highlighted because first and foremost, these running site bloggers are runners too.

I would sure like to see this "call of action" initiative on blacklisting & not supporting disorganised races get actioned....but I doubt it will gain majority support....knowing the "high tolerance & tidak apa" nature of our culture.

Good idea to create a list of Proven Disorganized Races/Podium of Infamy. This will hopefully open the eyes of the organizers who "shiok sendiri"..year after year thinking that they have done a good job.

While at that, why not also create a rating (0/1-star to 5-stars)for all the major runs, so as to "reward" the ones that are well organised?
