Another wonderful yrs of 2006, which i break a few record n lausai so many places hahaha! I did a personal best 21K in 1hrs 33mins 15sec @ PJ Half Marathon, too bad i miss der Subang Jaya 10km Run, coz that is der only actual 10k race in msia, I so desire to break that 10k course. Nevermind, I will target that for 2007.
Beside running, me oso manage to take some time to organise such a few event. Such as, Pacemakers New Yrs Run, Run for Terence, Pacemakers Anniversary Run II & Der Pacemakers Network Run. Wow! I couldnt believe I can handle this such event, of course from der help of der Pm's too. haha!!
Beside running in Klang valley, I oso travel to outstation run wit der gang. Penang la, Ipoh la, Seremban la, Kuching (Sarawak) la, Singapore la & der further Thailand, one in Bangkok n one in Hadyai.
To my bonus, I manage to find a team for der Penang Round The Island Relay. Wat a wonderful event to end der yrs of 2006, for sure 2007 will be another challenging yrs. Sumore der Pm's oredi reaching to 45 gang liao, so der ranking pts n medals tally will be in der hottest news.
Last but not least, I may not write as good as other, but I hope u guys do enjoy my write up for der whole yrs of 2006. Wishing everyone HAPPY NEW YEAR in 2007 n Pia for PR, Pia for Medals & Pia for Ranking pts!

Run with Jeremy again - By Pm 8 Chen
I was going for a 7k ez run, after influence by the hard core runner tey, he say weather is gud n cloudy, no run u will regret rest of the years.
I was hardly find a ppl in TTDI, but not the monkey n mosquito, so my pace getting slower n slower , what to do no one pace or pressure me
… until the last 500meter, then I heard voice call “hello chen!” . Me of course hello back lah, but with the spooky voice… ‘hElloooOooo’ …
Oh, it was the 2 runners turn triner… Jeremy n Hashim… they ask, why go so slow, come run last 3k with us… huh? ok, got pacer I suddenly wake up fresh from the sleepy n moody run.
I ask them ez run ah? “Nope, just finishing the last 3k of 18k hard run.” Fulamak, weekdays also so damn hard core… these tri-ny people really make runners head bow-down by the way they train… eeeerrr, ok lah, not all runners, errr…. Ok lah just ME! Okie dokie now? Huh?!
We just go normal pace for 2k plus, I lead all der way, I just like run 2k only, very energetic… n have a evil plan 2 whack them in last few hundred meter… kekeke… this time no way I will lose, I run shorter distance, enuf rest, feel gud in the course… what else I miss calculate?
When reach 300meter to end, b4 try 2 turbo, Jeremy already say, come let us finish strong, alright man! Not me say one man! Eat the right rice man! I say loudly ‘wei not fair ler, I finishing 10k only, u ppl finishing 18k!’ ‘u just pull us 2 get the speed ler!’ wahahaha! Okie dokie, what else I wait, just push to turbo engine n feel the wind on ear! So syoik ! Just a bit funny, I suppose hear the shoe stepping ground sound shd be more far n far away fr me… but it keep on closer n closer, shd be my shoe sound echo… yup, must be! No wor, the echo is totally unsyn with my one, no my own sound ler… wan 2 turn bak to check, the giant shadow is passing me like a dark fierce horse! I won’t let him go , I press until I feel choking and thigh pain, still keep on push… but he is way 2 good 4 me…
At the end point, I just can point finger at him and say, ‘gud ya! Gud ya!’ while I almost wan to throw out from the stomach… how can a junior veteran run extra 8k n still can out pace me ? Sleep also my face turn down…

Penang Round The Island Relay By Mr Pia LFS
First of all I gonna to tns kau kau lat to the person who provide the inaccurate route information. I ran as leg 8 covered total distance of 7.5km from Titi Kerawang Waterfall to Teluk Bahang Dam. Based on the information provided, it was all the way downhill for the entire distance. Therefore, I set a very high target for myself to finish it within 30 minutes, i.e. 4 minutes pace. Whereas target set by Captain was 31 minutes 15 seconds at 4’10 pace. Both targets were not reachable for my current level of fitness due to the steep incline for the first 2km.
The 1st team (Ah Choon Runners) reached here at approximately 9:15am at a very fast and incredible pace followed by BM Leopard, O2 Hiking Team, Brooks Running Club and KLAVA. Sooner later, our pacemaker supporters reached here and everybody gave me mental support. Tey showed me PM1 suffering pia picture and requested me to give all out like what captain did, DK pulak worried whether PM1 will pengsan or not because he pushed too hard for the 1st 2km flat road, then all the way up without any flat road or downhill. He also told me to run at my own pace because we were quite safe for our current position, the next men open team was very far behind and the first 4 teams were far in front of us (Approx 30 minutes separated from 1st team).
After a while, Ronnie came with the suffering face, so I reversed a bit to receive baton from him, ran at a fast pace although it was steep hills. Few minutes later, I can hear the noise behind from other team supporter (Maybe Old & Young team) and a veteran runner trying to potong gua er sayur. Initially I managed to run neck to neck with him, but that guy very strong on hill run, getting faster and faster. Cinya pressure ler! He finally overtook me, I wanna to chase him back but suddenly their supporter van purposely slow down in front of me and block my way. KNN! My pace slow down significantly and it was already 100m away from that guy. Luckily the road marshal warned and scolded the van driver to move aside, then only I could run my own pace without any obstacle.
Tns, already 7 minutes uphill, still no sign of going down, started to feel the tiredness. I reminded myself repeatedly that I should not walk, I must remain jogging no matter how tired I am, it was a team event! 8 minutes……, 9 minutes gone……, tnmch! Where is downhill arr? I felt like being cheated and fooled. (Who was the guy saying that all the way downhill?)
After struggling awhile, haha! Eventually my favourite and long waited downhill came! I tried to push at a much faster pace but jialat liao, both of my legs heavy as if there was a sandbag tie on my thighs. I can only maintain the existing pace, thus I widen my stride hopefully to recover some valuable time. The downhill wasn’t steep, it was slowly going down with a bit of uphill in between. The veteran runner who overtook me earlier already out of sight and I smell no smoke!
After about 26 minutes jog, I came out of the jungle and the Dam just in front of me, the view here magnificent and breathtaking. But the temperature cinya hot like barbeque with another hill in front of me again slowing me down. After the hill and corner, the finishing line just about 300m in front, so I push all out to pass the baton to Leg 9 which handled by Abu. (If I survey the road before the event, I would have push earlier since it was so near to finishing line!)
My timing for the 7.5km distance was 32m53s, average pace 4m23s per km, not satisfied with my performance because I did not really exhausted like during my training PR in KLCC. It means that I did not push all out yet. I have to seriously overcome this problem in the near future, or else no point to set PR in training but that form does not translate in race day!
Overall I really enjoy the race especially being cheered by our supporters and cheers for other teammates. Thanks to Ronnie for forming a team for this event.

Running? Argh...a nightmare for me during my school day. I hate running. I'm not even watch my friend s running during sport day. I rather prefer to watch football match. HAHAHA....for me nothing interesting about running. Besides that I was the 'GEMUK' guy in the class. Do you still remember during your school days the teacher will measures our weight n height. At one time I was the 2nd "GEMUK' guy in the class and its really make me dissatisfied. Not because of I'm 'GEMUK' but dissatisfied because I'm the 2nd 'GEMUK' in class. ARGH...WHY NOT ME...I WANT TO BE NO 1.During primary school although I did not joint running but I was a Shot Put Decathlon guy..hehehe. I was a champion for 3 consecutive years. But things change when I was in secondary school. I was in 5th ranking and not even got any medal. From that point I stop become the participant. I preferred to be supporter because I can tackle many girls in Ipoh Schools...hehehe
In the year 2005 I started like running. Middle of the year my weight was 100kg and my 2 big boss always said that I was very...very slow due to my big size. I feel frustrated...under pressured...sometimes I don't like to see my bosses face.
In July 05', I went for medical check up and the results....I got high cholesterol and diabetes. From there I start interested to exercise. I joint Fitness First. I did 10 min running 30 min cycling. Then I increase the timing for cycling but not running. Beginning of August I successfully decrease 2kg. In August my brother, Saiful n cousin, Fairus challenge me to join Adidas King of the Road 10km race. That was my first race and my time was...1 hrs 19 min. Wah...I can't believe it. I finished the race.
After Adidas 10km...things started to change. I found out running is a very interesting sport. Though I'm big size but that was not a barrear for me to run. RUN ABU....RUN.
From 10km to 15km. From KLIM06 21km to Putrajaya Marathon. I was able to finished my first marathon in 4 hrs 59 min. WOW!!! It was really tiring but feel satisfied with my achievement. This really motivated me to go further by joining Singapore Marathon. Yahoo!!! I broke my Putrajaya record. 4 hrs 34 min. What a success...
I knew Pacemaker group through PM22...Ah Tey. Then PM1...Ronnie want me to join Pacemaker Adidas Network in Penang Round der Island Relay. I'm happy to be the new member of this big family with friendly and helpful family members who love to share each other's running experiences.
Next Year target:
10km in 47 min
15km in 1 hrs 15 min
21km in 1 hrs 55 min
42km in 4 hrs 5 min
Personal Best:
10km in 0:52:51 @ Subang Jaya 10km Run (5/11/06)
15km in 1:26:32 @ NB Pacesetters 15km Run (21/5/06)
21km in 2:25:46 @ KL International Marathon (5/3/06')
42km in 4:35:53 @ Singapore International Marathon (3/12/06)

PAAA 29th Annual Round the Island Relay 2006
Dream come true...
Der first time i heard about this relay was way back 1996, that time I was like a 'kelefair' runner nia. Always dream to be in der team, but never had der chance. Wait n wait until fed up liao, so I say to myself, why dont I create my own team? Rather then I keep waiting to be selected. That's why I created der Pacemakers Network in 2004, well it take me long way to form der team. Finally after 10 years of waiting, my dream comes true. And I want to thanks to all der teammates, without you guys, I wont be here. It was a very memorable event & medal for me, wit this medal I reach
der Plantinium record of 30 medal for year 2006. Wat a unbelievable year! [insert tear here]
Race Day!
I could sleep for der whole night, at 4.30am me oredi start packing n ask everyone to wake up liao by calling room by room. By 5.30am our PM bus arrive, n load all der runners & supporter into der bus. And off we go to der starting point at Padang Kota Lama. After that, me quickly look for der PAAA official to get der bib number, n start to distribute der bib. By 6.00am der official give briefing about der rules n regulation. At 6.20am, der official already start calling the runners to go in to the respective bus. Runner leg # 2,3 & 4 in Bus A, leg # 5, 6 & 7 in Bus B, leg # 8,9 & 10 in Bus C & leg # 11 & 12 in Bus D. After the 1st leg start their run then only the bus fetch us to the point running leg point.
der PACEMAKERS network BOLEH!!
Believe it or not, I can say everyone did their best for der PM's team. Even we did not hit our target time, we not be der best team in der north malaysia, but our runners really show out der truth spirit of pia & run wit everything out, with that I'm oredi happy liao, couldn't ask for more. [Salute to my team here] To be honest, even we not finish top three, but take this is a good experience, especially der route course. Der earlier info is not so accurate, that is our disadvantage. Der heat is so unbelievable hot, especially for der last 4 runners. So pity to them, they hardly cant open their eye during der run, is so painful n unbearable. Thank god all of our runners manage to beat der heat n cross der line safely.
Wrong move!
If I hv know earlier der route course from Eddy Choo (Klava), we might not get so worst in timing. As wat Eddy say, der most toughest running leg is number 7. Yup, that is der one I'm running. Damn it!! U know wat, when I was running at half way mark, I'm saying to myself. I'm not going to run this leg anymore for next yrs again. I was almost dying like hell, after 2km flat.. it is only uphill, no downhill or flat road at all. No wonder der Old & Young veteran team place thier best runner there lah, sumore he is King of Penang hill champion. Der 2nd tougher is leg #8, which was handle by Lai Fong Sang. I tot is only all der way downhill for him. But I was wrong, it was still uphill for few kilometer, then only slowly go down. As wat I know, Lai most fearness is uphill, is a big mistake for me to put Lai in this leg, Old n Young oso put one of their faster in leg 8. Cinya sorry to Lai for my error. Der 3rd toughest is der Leg 9, 10, 11 & 12, this last 4 leg need a very experience runners like master Chen Fong Fong, able to stand heat, mentally & physically strong.
I made a few changes in der leg last mins, der 1st to 3rd leg, I place all fast runners like Richard, Naresh & Guna (suppose to be Pm1) so that they can build more gap for der medium runners. Der leg 4th Sim (suppose to be Saiful), 5th Dinesh & 6th Khoo. I scare Sim pensan in der heat, haha! 7th was Pm1 (suppose to be Guna), 8th Lai Fong Sang & 9th Abu (suppose to be Kelvin) Abu last mins replace Ryan mei mei, due to no fit. 10th Saiful (swap wit Sim), 11th Eric Teo & 12th Kelvin Ng der anchor man!

Pressure Time : Pm1 received baton from Khoo Yit Kiat, cinya kan cheong liao. My turn to pia kau-kau for der team.

King of der Road : Pm1 running wit a motorbike follow behind, so nice hor. Not everytime u'll will get this kind of experience leh, hahaha der route is mine bapa wan!

Loyal supporter : So nice to have Pm's gang to support, despite der suffering & lausai face.

Finishing Line : Pm1 pia to finish, while Lai oredi waiting for me liao.
Happy Ending
Overall, I very enjoy der wonderful trip to penang, especially wit der great Pm's gang round der whole island wit der bus. Special thanks to all der die hard supporter, such as Chin Apek, Rachel der supervisor at etc.. etc.., Tey der camera man, Adam der video man, Ryan der timekeeper, Ah Loong der pom pom girl, Naresh + Guna family, Kelvin family & all der 12 runners in der relay. Thank You kau-kau lat!!
Hope to see der_pacemakers team in der relay again in year 2007!!
p\s: There will be another excited event coming soon in april at Penang, is call "Round der Houses Relay" 8 runners + 2 reserve, each runners run 2.5km same route (guarantee finisher medals). I'm thinking to form up 2 teams, one is der Fun & Relax team & one is der pia kau-kau team. So u hv a option to choose ya, Tan Boon Seng oredi der 1st want sign up for der team liao! Happy Holiday & Merry Christmas!!

SAIFUL AZRI
Born : August 17 1982, Kedah
My sporting career began in primary school, where my family supported my competitive urges from the beginning. I displayed a gift early on when I won the high jump in School Sports Day at 10 years old. Then I start to represent for my school in high jump and long jump until I went to secondary school I turn to a middle distance running. At that stage I participate in 800m, 1500m and 3000m.
Suddenly, I stop running when I was in form 4 when i enjoy playing football, volleyball, taekwondo and others sport at that time. Then when I was in final year at university I realize that I miss something I love when I was a child. Regret !..so, I start jogging…running….took part in competitions. My first competition are Big Walk 2003, I finished it without medal.
When I start working as a quantity surveyor in Damansara, I took serious in running to get back my performance. My time slowly improved and I started to collect medal from each competition. haha
For me running can detain for rest of our life. It can live as individual or in-group and for the most importances are we can improve our performance and life style.
My first marathon arrived in September 2006, when i set a record at 4:31:59. At a meet in Singapore in December 2006, i broke my marathon record (4:31:59) and set a new one at 4:09:49. Marathon show me a lot of experience. We must keep patient and focus in our mind.
I am Pacemaker 45. Thanks to the entire team of runners and supporters in Penang Island Relay 2006. This is my first time with this team and I proud to be a pacemaker and its motivate me to train hard next time.
Personally, I can be very talkative and sumtimes can be shy. I really love running. I’m a happy go lucky person, i think.hahaha Next year I will be a full time student in UPM taking MSc Project Management. Wish me of success…
