Klang Bak Kut Teh 2005 - Race Report

OMG: A Klang runner who cant accept der truth dat he was beaten kau-kauly by der PM runners! A picture showing dat he has no face to to accept der truth! Why god doing dis to him, A tear by from his eye, n he keep saying... Oh God... oink! oink! oink!...

Medals #99 liao!!!
Dis is my 3rd yrs taking part der Klang Run, n 3rd time running der different route. Why cant they stick to a proper distance route? always keep changing der TNS route? Dis yrs route is der most toughest wan, it's something like cross country to horland. After der flagoff, i run as hard as i can to avoid der thick crowd. After 500m, CB Loew oledi over shot me liao. Try to follow his a$$, but oso must look around my back for Aunty Shine, Chen Fong Fong n Justin live-2-zouk.

der 2nd look!
After 3k plus, runners hv to make a u-turn up to der hilly bridge. Which i oso can see who is behind me lah. Really really pressure, Fong Fong, Justin n surprise Kenny were all running hand to hand. I think they'll juz 50m behind me, Aunty Shine were no where to been seen liao. After 5k plus, runners hv to run up to der staircase. Which is about 2 storey height, damn! manyak manyak susah lor!!!

Cinya Kut (very licin)
After up from der staircase, runners hv 2 run at least 300m of floor tiles surface. Which is oso very very sliperly, i can see all runners were reduce back thier pace. Sekali slip up, u can say bai bai.
Hill here, hill there, hill everywhere!
B4 attack der hills, look at my back again. Phew! those 3 fellas were out of my sight oledi. A bit relief lah! hehehe... this is oso der part where runners mix up wit der 7km category. So hv 2 run like zig-zag lor, up n down der hill, left n right avoid those runners. Jialat!!

Finishing!
After come out from der roundabout, there is 1 more hill to attack n oso der last hill. Alto i manage to potong my own category sayur, but i kenot see CB Leow oledi. Wit 300m to enter stadium, Pm26 was there to give some cheers to me. Thank u Mr. Hamsap Man!

Battle of der 3 Golden Jamban!
After crossing der finish line, i was very nervous to see whom win der battle between Justin, Fong Fong n Kenny Tan. I expect Justin der favourite to win, but it was Fong Fong der experience top seeded turn runner who turn on der table. In d end, Justin was 6 sec behind Fong Fong. Kenny 12 sec behind Justin.

Overall
I think my performance is below par, due to so many races going on. Really hv no time to rest, but still happy wit der timing lah. N der medals oso got inprovement oledi, no more as thin as Milo can liao, der new medal knock on der head oso can pensan! wakakaka...

der_pacemaker #35

Hi every1, nice to be in this community where i can share my running passion with u all. i get to know bout u all when i visited the pacesetters official website around 6 months ago, from there i was linked to the PM website, since then i had visited the website frequently cause it's really give the most update info bout the running world. then i get to know few of the PM members, such as kelvin & ronnie. i really want to know more bout u all, so i had decided to join the PM gang.

so basically i would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, here r some of my personnal info:

name > lee weng khong ( khong )
age > 25
from > sg. besi ( nearby bkt jalil )
emploment > eon bank bhd
marital status > still available
contact > 012 9070043
pacesetters member since > may 03

ok, intro done olidi, now i'm going to start with how can i get involved in the running.

8 yrs ago when i was in the school, i olidi have the interest in the running event, i always keep track on what happening in the running world.
but my size at that time really a big matters for me to get into my favorite sports event, but i still involve in the athletic world, i was represent my school in the tug-a-war and the shot put in the interschool competation

back to 3 yrs ago, around Jan' 02, i was 22 yrs with the weight of 122kg ( almost 300 pounds ), height at 176cm, my waist that time was 46 inchs. one of the causes for me to become that size was the place that i worked at that time, i was in the bakery sector, everyday eat hot dog and bun. that time i really suffer not only with my size, movement, the way that people think & look at me and want to find a cloths that suite for me also hard. i was quiet lucky, cause my mom r the tailor, so from there my headache can reduce a little bit.

so, 1 day ( still at 3yrs ago ) evening i go to this tmn bkt jalil to jog with my friend, brandon ( same size with me ) and his father ( former marathon runner ) known as jeffry, his father really force us to run, i still can re-call the famous words that he said "even how slow r u keep on running, don't stop or walk" (which i still practicing today ). that time i really hate and try to avoid to meet jeffrey, but he still manage to get me, every evening he will force brandon to call me for jog, i really dont have any accusess for that. when time go by, after few weeks of suffering, i really can feel that, my weight really reduce, i feel fresh on myself and my difficulty of movement also less olidi.

so in order to maintain my interest on running, i started to join the competation, i had entered most of the competation in the country such as penang bridge half marathon & genting 24 hours walk. from the i started to know some of the member, most of them from permaisuri such as siah (siah leong hooi), ah fatt, kelvin. a lot more lah. cannot remember name. if c the faces i know lah day by day gone, my weight also reduce day by day. kg by kg gone.

until end of 2003, the weight that i had measured was 76 kg, in other words, i had reduced almost 46 kg, height of course still the same and my waist reduce to 33 inch ( around 13 inch). feeling at that just like i was in new chapter of my life, i can done most of the things that other people can do.

currently i still maintain at that size which i think it's quiet suitable for the people at my height. since the size not a main problem to me, so what i had to think of currently was increse my speed of running. that is one of the main reason why i going to join u all, i need some guide, advice, running partners (friends), someone who can share their experience and time comparison to get a better speed and proper way to run. nice to be in this running family. hopefully can meet u all in the future. keep in touch. keep on running.

END OF STORY

Thanks and regards,
khong ^_*

I still feel very tired from der Melaka 1/2 Marathon event, dont hv der mood to race. Nevertheless i still try my best but only at 85% lah. B4 start of der event, William Chan say he got enuf of training liao, n he ready to rock me down. Gulp! I dont mind, i juz wanna finish der race wit a medal hanging on my neck. All are welcome to beat me, but beat me when i'm strong ya! After 100 medals, all der
race i go easy liao!

Jalan Duta Attack!
After der flag off, my feeling was like yo yo only. Manage to potong Chen Fong Fong after 2k plus, so surprise dis time they hv a distance marker. But all oso not acurate wan, wasting time to look at it. My pacer at der moment was William Chan, so follow him very closely until der hill he got no power liao. There was a whole bunch of runners at der hill area, accidently i turn my head n look at der back. I was so Fcuking shock! It was Shine!! From there on, i start to turn on my power. After der down hill, i manage to pull my self away from der fcuker. Wit 2 more km to go, i turn my head again. Fcuk!! I saw Chen fong fong oso behind der fcuker.

Thriller Finishing...
After crossing der Bkt Aman trafik light, there was 1 more km to go, I run as hard as i can. Wit 200m meter to go, der fcuker over took me n sprint kau kau lat. But i'm not about to give up, wit 100m more to go. I show my true color to him n slash him triple double duper kau kau lat oso. PHEW! Fong Fong was only 28 sec behind, i think it's a PR for Fong Fong n Ah Chuan. Ohyes! I manage to meet 2 new friends, n there are Aiman Cheah n Fadhil. Nice to meet u all dude!!

Cilaka International Marathon 2005 - Latest Result

Cinya Lauzy!!
Very bad! There is no finishing card for Full Marathoner n 1/2 Marathoner after top 20th placing. So runners does not know wat their position. Lucky mine was inform by PM21, or else i don't know where i stand? I hate der distance marker, semua tak acurate wan. Make me so confuse until want to pecah kalapa. TNS!! PM22's Relax Seremban Half Marathon 2005

As Seremban half marathon is one week before Melaka full marathon.Iplan to relax run and enjoy the hilly route, but I found not only merelax run,a lot of experience runners use Seremban Half to warm up forMelaka Full.

As SJ10K experience,I found that enoungh sleeping is veryimportant, but I have only 4 hrs to sleep.Woke up 3.30am,then wait forLim Kien Leong to fetch me at 4.30am,we reach Tmn Connaught CCHOOhouse, but wait so long for Kenny Choo, cause heavy rain there, lucky hecan still continue start and riding his motor, reach connaught about5.15am,lilttle late.

We reached Seremban ,still have about 30 minutes to prapre the race.Ias usual to snap foto for friends..and chat...!

But the way of flag off surprise use..cause don't have anyannouncement,we quickly press watch and start our 21km.
Last year I didn't enjoy the race, cause I lost my wallet...but foundback finally.I finished last year on this new route 2:24.

This year Seremban half,my plan is to test my pace again for moreconsistent in race, for more prepare for Melaka Full. But if resultsbetter than PR or achieve 1:45,it will be a BONUS.

I started little slow pace...cause saw many good runners ,like MasterChen,Lisar,Peter Goh,TTDI MP3 man,P1,Hasri also...so ..I plan to keepclose with them.

But when I realised it is slower pace for me,lucky have Adam pace for me,
he bring me to overtake many friends, except forMaster Chen...until about 15km..I gave up to follow tight withAdam, cause have to save energy for Melaka full...just keep and followmy relax and normal pace.

The few hilly part,is comfortable for me,cause I believe I more trainat TTDI help me a lot.

Met with the school children walking group and traffic jam,it is causeme slower my pace, but nothing can do ,just try to tolerence with it.
Altough I didn't erase my PR ,or 1:45,but this is my best results atSeremban Half. And in a half marathon ,I got the best ever placing42..hehehe...!

Overall ,I am happy my performance..after bought siow pau and tanta,CCHOO invite us Taman Connaught famous siow latrice, chicken, duck, cai siow...vege....!!

Thanks to CCHOO be our driver and pay all everything ,patrol and tol
Last ,about Seremban half, they didn't mark the distance with correctdistance,I will try my pace not base on distance mark...cause some km,is even sub 4minutes ,some is more 8 minutes...it confuse me.

I keep sub 5 minutes at 7km mark,my time is 34:57,but when reached8km..my time is 8:09,wah...that mean I was little slower pace in earlystage cost me can't have a better timing.
See u all at Melaka full marathon.

My split time:

7km:34:57

8km:8:09(43:06)
9km:5:27(48:27)
10km:5:10(53:44)
11km:5:08(58:53)
12km:3:57(1:02:50)
13km:5:34(1:08:25)
14km:5:53(1:14:19)
15km:4:20(1:18:39)
16km:5:15(1:23:54)
18km:10:58(1:34:53)
19km:4:46(1:39:40)

MINUM SUSU MEMBAHAYAKAN KESIHATAN

Contrary to popular belief that milk is good for thebones, it is BAD for runners especially when you down½ carton of really cold milk before hitting the sack. That was exactly what I did on Friday night afterwatching Malaysian Idol. It has been a scorchingcouple of weeks and I just had to have something cold. The only healthy drink in the fridge that faithfulnight was a carton of Mr Farmer’s Vanilla Milk.Confession time, I love milk. Given a choice I wouldchoose milk to any fizzy or isotonic drinks. Back tothe story, ½ a carton was downed and I went to bedfeeling nice and cool. Bad move!

I started purging in the middle of the night and mystomach was bloated. I visited the family doctor earlySaturday morning. Western doctors diagnosed thesesymptoms as food poisoning. Actually it was all thegas in the stomach that was making it bloated andextremely uncomfortable.

I could not eat anything the whole of Saturday. Eachtime I looked or smelt food being cooked, I would feelnauseatic. This is not good, I told myself. Whateverit is, I still have to get my Seremban ½ Marathonmedal.

I could not sleep well on Saturday night. I wasworried that I am unable to complete the race.

Sunday morning, I woke up at 4am. Still feelingdiscomfort and uneasy. Fortunately purging has stopped(what’s there to purge because I hardly ate anythingthe night before) and I felt very exhausted. And itwas raining heavily at my place. How I wished therewas no run, I would have continued sleeping till 8am.

Car-pooled with Jimmy Tong (ex-PACM Vice President). He arrived at about 5am. Traffic was smooth except fora little incident at the Kesas highway where a policecar skidded right in front of us. Whoa! That reallyjolted us. If we were a little faster, we would havebeen hit by that police car doing a 180 degrees turn. What’s more to say about our local enforcementofficers?

The rest of the journey was smooth. We saw manyrunners making their way to the run. The road was wetdue to the heavy downpour. It seemed like it rainedall the way to Seremban.

The rain has stopped in Seremban. Very nice weather torun, I told myself positively. I collected my bibsfrom Ryan (thanks Ryan for all the trouble!) at theTown Hall. I made my way to the starting point. Saw alot of familiar faces (Alden, Rohaizad, Kenny, Kelvin,Adam, Chen (I still owe you RM4 for the PowerGel etc).My stomach was still very uneasy. My plan for the racewas to complete by 2:30hrs. However, I was worried asthere were close to 400 participants for the ½marathon B category and there were only 300 medals tobe given. I was busy checking out the bibs. Ifeveryone complete the race by 2:15, it was a goner.

The race started approximately 7am. I ran feverishlyduring the first 10km of the race. Then it all wentdownhill because I felt my stomach became heavier, nauseatic and having difficulty breathing. I had tostop. I started walking. Familiar faces were runningpast me giving words of encouragement.

I ran and walked. At one point I totally gave up ongetting the medal.

Being my 2nd ½ marathon in Seremban, this was a newroute to me. My first was in 2002. The gradual hillswere challenging and I personally think it was betterthan Ipoh (minus the pollution and bad trafficcoordination). It did not help as well during the last5km of the race when the school children joined us.Most of them were not even interested to run. Somewere seen holding hands (pak toh) and some were havingtarik at the mamak stalls.

I made it to the finishing line in 2hrs 24mins andsurprisingly 193rd position. This has been my worsttiming for a ½ marathon. However, I must thank God andmy lucky stars that I managed to complete the race inone piece.

P/S : I know Ryan’s going to give me my nickname :SUSU MAN

Rock Seremban Race Report 2005

der pacemakers biggest slump!
Base on der result, i think everyone did very badly in their 21km. All dis bcoz too much racing is going on, runners don't hv time for a proper training n resting. Even sleeping will affect ur running, runners need to wake up early for thier long drive to seremban. Dat oso der main cause.

medal #96 for pm1!!!
Yahoo!! 4 more medals to create history. Yet again, dis is another suffering race for me thru out der whole 11km. I manage to finish within top 20, dat why it's so pressure n suffering. Lucky i sign up for 11km instead of 21km, so next wks i hv full of energy to rock Melaka kau kau lat.

My Recovery Run @ KLCC wit Newton Yap PM18

I was MC on monday, due to over turbo on sunday kau-kau kopi O. There was no running for me either, my leg muscle totally sakit like shiet. So today i plan for 8 lapper at KLCC, but nid someone to pace wit me lah. Else i will be damn boring like hell, coz hv to run wit a very slow kura-kura pace. Lucky Newton n Ah Loong was there, Ah Loong only run 2 1/2 lap wit us. He was rushing back to collect hutang. So it up to me n Newton, we were going at a very confortable pace. Such as negative split, i oso feel very syok wit der pacing. Wit 1 more lap to go, i ask Newton how izzit? Can go bo? 1 last lap? He say kenot liao! So it up to me to finish it off. After finish my 8 lapper, me n Newton hv a warm down for 1 lap. So we run happily ever after. Tomolo another 8 lapper at KLCC again, there will be no speed workout for me until end of dis wks! Kam siah!!!

My time split for 10.4km
8:04.13
7:55.23 > 15:59s
7:56.85 > 23:56s
7:32.62 > 31:28s
7:24.64 > 38:53s
7:11.00 > 46:04s
6:55.54 > 53:00s
6:45.41 > 59:45s

PM22 Broke His 3 Years Half Marathon PR!!!

I really enjoy my first ever Ipoh half marathon, not because I manage broke my 3 years PR in my half marathon(2002 PJ Half 1:48:43),but I so enjoy the nice food in Ipoh, and also met with a lot of running friends, from Pacesetter,Pacemaker and also friends from Singapore safra running club.

Since I decide to use Ipoh half as for my Melaka full marathon training,so just relax and enjoy the flat road. But I failed to achieve my main target sub 1:45,it exceed 2minutes 44 seconds,it is not easy to achieve sub 1:45 for me at the moment, but may be in future soon.

I decide to use 5minutes pace for all 21km,so,I control my self even I felt very relax and condition is not bad, keep cool, control my feeling of exciting.I as usual carry my Karrimor pouch which I put my new Canon A520 Digital Camera plus my wallet, but without drinking water or my secret powder water,it is light, easy for me to run.

After delay a few minutes, the race is start,I keep cool to follow my pace, after about 1km,saw Jason,CM and many, but since it was a race,I have no plan to chat with them, then I met with Kenny Tan,pace with him for a while, let him went as his pace is much faster than me.

Since 4km,every km have a mark,so,I control my pace very good, less than 5 minutes ,but after 9km,don't know why,may be I am not a kaki of pia attitude,I felt very relax, but it was not good for my 1:45 target.

One side story for you all,I met one chinese guy at about 8km,wah,make me felt pressure, lost about 3km concetration, cause he always buang air liur lah,the sound of 'OH.....PUI','OH.....PUI'..... behind me ,I think behind me 10metres,don't know why he didn't felt thirsty, when he try to potong my sayur,I look at him,he also paiseh, said sorry in cantonese, lucky at 11km,he puncit, sat down at roadside,he wear normal sock, not running sock, don't know how to respect other runner's feeling and also not so healthy lah !!

At about 18km,my target is still achieveable, off my target 1 minute 44 seconds, but think better for erase my PR is enough liao,so I still relax, but surprise after 20km U-Turn,saw a lot of familiar face, like CM,Yap WaiMun,Kenny Choo,So I decide to faster little my pace, just for keep distance with them and also aim for earse my half marathon PR.

After the run,I toke my DC to snap who ran behind me,but CM too close to me,don't have enough time to snap his pia foto, but manage for most runners who are run after 1:50.

My fail to achieve target 1:45,may be have some reason as below:

1.Saturday slept only for 3h30m,after fried rice plus one egg with PM1 couple and Jacky ,I slept at 11.00pm..but don't know why awake at 2.30am..try to slept, but can't.

2.My rest time only friday and saturday, may be my muscle don't have fully recover from training.

3.Don't have pia attitude, too relax, may be need to serious if really want to achieve target.

4.I ate only 2 tablets BEE POLLEN plus one glass of water, may be it is not enough for 21km,I think I need to eat roti also or some biscuit or POWER BAR as for my meal before the start of the race.

5.Most important, may be I must decide can't bring any DC or pouch during the run.

6.The water station don't have sport drink, may be I need to bring secret powder lah..hahaha !
My pace in IIR 2005:
4km:19:245km:4:52(24:17)6km:5:15(29:32)7km:5:07(34:40)8km:5:05(39:45)9km:5:49(45:34)10km:4:38(50:13)11km:5:10(55:23)12km:5:27(1:00:53)13km:4:37(1:05:31)14km:5:03(1:10:34)15km:5:15(1:15:50)16km:5:25(1:21:16)17km:5:13(1:26:30)18km:5:14(1:31:44)19km:5:18(1:37:02)20km:5:38(1:42:41)21km:5:03(1:47:44)

Last,I want to thanks John snap my perfect foto near the finishing point !! Kam Siah Kau-Kau !!

as, "PM1 der Great Ronnie See", "Ronnie Arumugan See", "Ronnie See" n etc... Very sorry to Chen Fong Fong for not pacing wit him on der 10km. I think Fong Fong should know why by now liao.

WHY #3?
My last wks traning is more focus on 10k, i dont hv any preparation on der 21k. Dat mean, i run my 21k without a proper training. TNS again!!

WHY #4?
Walk too much during der whole satuday morning thru nite, making my leg so tired to run.

WHY #5?
I run der 1st 10k at only 85% n sumore feeling very gut. N my 10k timing was 43:52s. I hv a feeling dat if keep on thru dis pace for another 11km, maybe i can PR's! After 15km, can feel der tiredness liao. I even stop for stretching for a while, der knee pain oso come n visit me again. After 19km, i feel like want to walk oredi. Coz my whole leg so keras like besi. Since i run der 21k last yrs, so very familiar wit der route to finishing. There was a big u-turn dat seem kenot reach wan! I saw dis malay runner, Abdul Aziz. Which i beat him at Subang Run wit 400m to go. So dis time happen der same thing again. Wit 1km to go, n he still lead on me. So i start to turbo kau-kau lat, until der 400m again. I potong sayur him again until der finishing line. I think der malay fella must be TNS kau-kau lat again. But i quickly go n shake his hand, n we be friend again. To my surprise, i manage to PR! So dat why dis 21km race is so kan kor to me!
